Metal working greases

Metalworking lubricants are special formulations that are used to reduce friction between the tool and the workpiece material during metalworking. These lubricants are designed to reduce the mechanical resistance between the tool and the metal being machined and prevent overheating of the tool and material, which increases tool life and improves the quality of the finish of the machined surfaces. Metalworking lubricants can have different ingredients, depending on their purpose and properties. The most common ingredients in metalworking lubricants are mineral, synthetic and semi-synthetic oils, waxes, EP additives (to increase anti-stripping properties), AW additives (to enhance anti-wear properties), and anti-corrosion additives. Metalworking lubricants are used in various machining processes, such as turning, drilling, milling, grinding, threading, stamping and boring. Depending on the machining process and the material being machined, lubricants with different properties are selected, such as viscosity, thermal stability, resistance to high pressure and temperatures, corrosion resistance and others. An important factor in the use of metalworking lubricants is proper dosage, since excess lubricant can cause negative effects such as contamination of the machined surface, as well as weakening of the lubricant's properties and reducing its effectiveness. In summary, metalworking lubricants are indispensable in many industrial processes because they increase tool life and improve the quality of machined surfaces. Their proper dosage and selection according to the requirements of the machining process and the material being machined are key to obtaining the best results.
